This is going to be a blog about all the things I find and try from Pinterest. Seems a little redundant, maybe, but I, for one, would like to know how well things work before I try them. Sometimes I try things I post and they fail. Miserably. So, here I am to let you know. My first experiment: Cleaning stainless steel appliances with cream of tartar and water. The blog I got this from said she used 1 Tablespoon of cream of tartar with a few drops of water and a sponge. Well, that was okay in the beginning. But, I ended up using more.
This is before. You can't exactly tell, (I wish I had gotten better pictures, but I was sort of in a hurry.) but the front and part of one side are blackened. That is where there was so much grease that my teapot caught on fire. That's when I knew it was time to clean it...
This is in the middle.
This is after.
As you can see, it didn't get everything. But, it got most of it. I probably used 1/4-1/3 of the bottle of Cream of tartar. The directions said to rub the milky residue in with a sponge and wipe clean with a damp paper towel. I don't think you need the paper towel. Clean it with the corse side of the sponge and run it under some water and wipe with the soft side. Better than buying a new teapot! So, I guess a win.
TIPS:
Wear gloves. It'll turn your fingers black.
Wear an apron. That milky stuff gets everywhere.
